Events

The MAST Center hosts in-person (and now virtual) interactive events  at professional conferences to facilitate connections between emerging scholars (graduate students and early career professionals up to 5-years post degree) and leaders in the research and evaluation fields (mentors). At these events, mentors meet with emerging scholars and provide insight on topics such as navigating graduate school, nonacademic research and evaluation opportunities, working with programs, and successful strategies for early career academics.

• Adolescent and Young Adults’ Relationship Expectations and Experiences Webinar
  The MAST Center and the Dibble Institute partnered to highlight research by MAST on young people’s attitudes toward relationship formation, their dating and romantic relationships, and the quality of their relationships in this webinar.

• MAST Center-NCFR Conversation Series on Non-Academic Careers
  In the fall of 2020, the MAST Center and the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) sponsored this 4-part Continuing Conversations series, which introduced emerging scholars to some of the non-academic career paths taken by researchers with graduate training in family-related disciplines (e.g., Family Science, sociology, psychology, human development). Each conversation focused on career paths in different settings, including: (1) research in non-academic research organizations; (2) social science research in non-research industries; (3) applied research at National Center for Health Statistics and the Census; and (4) science administration at National Institutes of Health. • Youth Relationship Education Research & Practice Priorities Webinar
  The MAST Center and the Dibble Institute partnered to highlight work conducted by MAST that explores youth relationship attitudes, expectations, and experiences and how relationship education programs can tailor programming for youth, based on a positive youth development framework.
